Born in Istanbul. Began her music study at Ankara State Conservatory, Piano Dept. Obtained her first Bachelor Degree in Composition - Conservatorium van Amsterdam, second Bachelor Degree in Music Theory - Rotterdams Conservatorium (under supervision of Prof. Peter-Jan Wagemans, Patrick van Deurzen and Desiree Staverman) and her Masters Degree in Electro - Acoustic
Composition - Codarts Rotterdam (under the supervision of Prof. René Uijlenhoet, Prof. Roderik de Mann, Yannis Kyriakides, Prof. Peter-Jan Wagemans, Prof. Klaas de Vries and Robin de Raaf). Worked as instructor at Rotterdams Conservatorium. Currently employed as instructor at Bilkent University, Faculty of Music and Performing Arts - Theory and Composition Dept. At the same institue, she continues her doctoral study.
Gökçe Altay is active as composer of electro - acoustic music, theorist and lecturer in Turkey and Europe.
